  • Genesis Hospital in Kasba held an interactive session on work-life balance and coping with diseases on the 16 September at Rotary Sadan.

The session was beautifully organised by Signature, which stressed on how humans should understand the need of the hour which is the balance between work and life.

Dr. Purnendu Roy, a laparoscopic surgeon and chairman & managing director of Genesis Hospital, Kasba portrayed via audio visual powerpoint presentation the importance of having work and life balance if one has to be successful in life.

The primary focus was to make humans understand and feel the need to visit our own ‘me private limited company’ which is ‘self’ along with family members, who are the key people in our lives.

Dr. Roy explained in this age where everyone is chasing something or in a rat race, it’s important to stop and restart taking into consideration and balancing work and family life giving each member of the family time and effort to be united.

The best way to find what is lacking is by the SWOT analysis.

A SWOT analysis is a strategic planning to identify strength, weakness, opportunity and threat.

Strength and weakness are internal factors whereas opportunity and threat are external factors that help in enabling informed decision-making on both professional and personal levels.

Working is important but not at the cost of family life. Balancing life between professional responsibilities and personal commitments such as family time, hobbies, self-care has to be defined.

Achieving a healthy lifestyle is important which includes mental, emotional and physical well-being.

Short-term and long-term goals should be defined which evolves as per the needs and priorities.

What matters is reduced stress levels and burnouts, increased quality of life, boosts productivity and improves retention in the company that supports work-life balance.

Dr. Roy created the awareness which was apt and relevant for today’s day and age.

Creating the work-life balance and also coping with diseases can be tough but everyone has to balance and we at Genesis Hospital Kasba want to help each and everyone in terms of healthcare related issues, said doctors.
