Kolkata: Union minister of coal and mines
on Sunday emphasised the urgency for mineral security for the nation and urged
(Hindustan Copper) to play a meaningful role in this endeavour.
He was delivering the keynote address at HCL's 59th foundation day. On the day, HCL organised an international seminar on critical and strategic minerals.
Union junior minister Satish Chandra Dubey lauded HCL for organising the seminar. Such seminars, he said, would open up possibilities for collaboration between Indian mining players and their overseas counterparts.
HCL chairman and MD Sanjiv Kumar Singh said in his address that HCL had collaborated with leading PSUs and Codelco, the world's largest copper miner in Chile. Through Khanij Bidesh India Ltd (KABIL), its JV with NALCO and MECL, HCL is also scouting for critical and strategic mineral assets abroad. "As we move towards low carbon future, such minerals will become indispensable," he added.
