Children with special needs present cultural show on NALSA Day

The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) celebrated NALSA Day with special needs children at Chinsurah Rabindra Bhavan on Wednesday.
To mark the occasion, the entire celebration was organised with the participation of children with special needs from various government homes in the district, including Pratibandhi Kalyan Kendra, Khanyan BR Ambedkar Seva Samiti, and Bhadreshwar Shelter Home, among others. Most of the participants were children with mental challenges, hearing impairments, autism, Down’s syndrome, or speech difficulties.
The main objective of the event was to ensure justice for people from every stratum of society and to spread the message of “Justice at Every Step”, said Manali Samanta, secretary, DLSA Hooghly.
In her welcome address, Ms Samanta spoke about the role of NALSA, SLSA and DLSA, and the services they provide to citizens. Various activities of DLSA Hooghly were also showcased through a PowerPoint presentation.
The cultural performances by special needs children captivated everyone present and conveyed a powerful message, “The power lies within everyone; all that is needed is opportunity.”
The event was graced by District Judge-cum-Chairman, DLSA Hooghly, Amit Chakraborty; Chief Judicial Magistrate, Ashimananda Mandal; Additional District Magistrate (Development), Dr Amitendu Paul; District Social Welfare Officer, Niloy Kanti Dutta; and District Mass Education Extension Officer, Sudipta Majumder.
