Kolkata: The narcotics cell of the detective department arrested two youths, Md Zeeshan (23) and Md Akbar (22) of Park Street, and seized ecstasy (MDMA) from them in New Market around 9.30 pm on Thursday.
Cops claim the drugs, stored in cigarette packets and lighters, were changing hands in front of New Empire cinema hall, with the buyer claiming they were in demand at central Kolkata nightclubs. Some of the stock was to be used for a rave party in south Kolkata, cops suspect.
The lists found with the accused, which give an indication of their customer base, have names ranging from that of students and IT professionals to traders.
Each 2 g capsule was being sold at Rs 4,000-Rs 7,000, cops said.
A case has been started against the duo for possession and supply of psychotropic substances. tnn
