Gang picks fight, assaults & robs brothers in Posta

Kolkata: Two brothers returning home at night were allegedly targeted by a gang that picked an argument on flimsy ground with the elder of the two, before robbing them and fleeing.
The incident was reported from Posta, near 3B, KK Tagore Street, around 11.30 pm on Wednesday. The FIR was lodged on Thursday.
However, cops said the attack might have been due to a grudge and not just an incident of loot, given that the victims — Keshav Kumar Jha (26) and his brother Rupesh — could identify one of the assailants — Ranjan Basak.
According to the complaint, the confrontation began over a trivial matter but soon turned violent. Apart from using foul language and assaulting Keshav with fists, kicks, and an iron rod, they stole his phone and a chain. Cops have launched a probe. tnn
