  • Kolkata/Jalpaiguri: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has focused its attention on an alleged "Bangladeshi national", identified as Arif Hossain, who has been residing in India for the past decade.

Evidence suggests he played a crucial role in arranging funds through hawala channels for terror groups like al-Qaida.

The NIA, along with local police, raided Nandina village in Cooch Behar's Dinhata-II, close to the Bangladesh border, on Wednesday in an attempt to question Arif. While Arif managed to give the slip, investigators have found leads from a mobile seized from his mother-in-law. Arif's bank passbook was also among the articles seized.
