Main accused in murder of minor child in Arambagh arrested

A minor boy, Sheikh Reyan (10), a resident of Mayapur, under Arambagh 1 Gram Panchayat, went missing on Thursday evening. After an intensive search, the police recovered his body, wrapped in a blanket, from the house of a man who had been absconding — Sheikh Ramjan Ali, a local resident.
The police sent the body for post-mortem.
The main accused, Sheikh Ramjan, was arrested by the police on Friday evening from Howrah station. He was produced before the Arambagh Sub-Divisional Court today, and the court remanded him to police custody for a day. Investigation and interrogation will be carried out to ascertain the exact motive behind the murder of the minor. The police are also trying to identify any additional persons involved in the crime, said IC Rakesh Singh.
The kin of the deceased and local residents have demanded capital punishment.
