Will never ask for OTP for physical verification: EC

Kolkata: The EC on Monday clarified that they did not ask for any OTP related to the ongoing SIR in the state. Issuing a press note, the office of the chief electoral officer, West Bengal, said, "
of India or the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, West Bengal do not ever ask for any OTP in any mobile number for any work related to SIR or revision of electoral rolls whatsoever."
The same release was also posted on their social media handles by the CEO West Bengal office.
Later, Manoj Agarwal, chief electoral officer, West Bengal, said, "Cyber criminals posing as EC officials are asking for OTP from many people. We got this information from a social media handle of a political party. After that, we issued the clarification that neither the EC nor the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, West Bengal, ever asked for any OTP in any mobile number for any work related to SIR or revision of electoral rolls whatsoever.
