  • Kolkata: Another death linked to "SIR-related panic" was reported from South Dum Dum on Monday.

According to police, the deceased has been identified as Baidyanath Hazra. His body was found hanging from a tree in his neighbourhood on Monday afternoon.

His name was reportedly missing from the 2002 list.

"Since his parents died when he was a kid, he reportedly did not have the necessary documents," a relative of the victim said.

Family members claimed he was extremely anxious for several days over SIR. Sources said 47-year-old Hazra was a resident of R N Guha Road.

"His parents' names too were missing from the 2002 list," a relative added. A driver by profession, Hazra lived with his wife and two kids.

Meanwhile, a 67-year-old neurology patient, identified as Yamuna Mondal of Purba Putiary under Regent Park PS, reportedly died by suicide on Monday. Her son claimed that she was worried that the enumeration form had not reached her. No suicide note was found. Locals and cops, though, said the form reached the family members on Saturday and that a form was also issued in her name by the BLO. Her name figures on the 2002 list.
