  • The investigation into the Delhi blast case has expanded to West Bengal, with the National Investigation Agency (NIA) interrogating a suspect currently held in a Kolkata jail.

The suspect, Sabir Ahmed, a resident of Palashipara in the Nadia district, is being questioned at Kolkata’s Presidency Jail. According to sources, the NIA has interrogated him several times. His brother, Faisal Ahmed, was previously arrested by the Special Task Force (STF).

The NIA is conducting a continuous interrogation of Sabir to uncover links to the terrorist network.

In a related development, the NIA on Sunday made its first arrest in the case, apprehending a Kashmiri resident, Amir Rashid Ali. An official stated that Ali, in whose name the car used in the attack was registered, was arrested in Delhi and will be produced before a city court on Monday.

Separately, in the Faridabad Terror Module Case, the Crime Branch of Delhi Police has sent two summons to Javed Ahmed Siddiqui, the chairman of Al Falah University. The police have registered two FIRs against the university.

After interrogating Dr Shaheen Shahid, one of the Al-Falah University doctors arrested for the Delhi terror plot, the investigators came to know that they carried out this activity through various social groups.

It was also learnt that Dr Shaheen Shahid worked as a mentor for each group. Sabir Ahmed, a jailed person in Nadia, was active in that group. The investigative agency has come to know that Sabir Ahmed used to promote anti-India propaganda and encourage anti-national activities at various times.
