Kolkata: Three days after a massive fire engulfed Ezra Street, the Kolkata Police have lodged an FIR in this regard.
The fire, which broke out on Nov 15 around 5.30 am, had spread rapidly across the densely packed shops, primarily dealing in electrical equipment. It took 24 fire tenders and 48 hours of relentless effort to finally extinguish the blaze.
The OC of Lalbazar Fire Station, along with the West Bengal Fire & Emergency Services, submitted a formal complaint on Nov 17. Hare Street PS registered Case No. 261 under Sections 11J, 11L, and 26 of the West Bengal Fire Services Act, 1950. Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime & Traffic) Rupesh Kumar confirmed that an investigation is underway.
