Kolkata: The West Bengal Board of Primary Education is set to start recruitment across state-aided primary schools after eight years.
The online portal will open on Wednesday to receive applications from TET-qualified candidates. The exercise, meant to fill 13,421 vacant posts at primary schools, will be conducted after the state school education department gave the nod.
State education minister Bratya Basu said, "Under the wisdom, guidance and positive leadership of the chief minister, Mamata Banerjee, this recruitment process will further strengthen the foundation of primary education." Department officials hope that once the recruitment by the primary board and SSC gets over, nearly 50,000 teachers will be appointed by the end of this year.
Teacher recruitment at state-aided primary schools was last conducted in 2017.
But TET-qualified candidates, who have been waiting for the process for the past eight years are not satisfied with the number of vacancies, pointing out that the number of unemployed candidates was higher.
