Kolkata: Deputy election commissioner Gyanesh Bharti on Tuesday visited an office space in the Shipping Corporation of India building in Kolkata. He was accompanied by CEO Manoj Agarwal. The Bengal CEO's office has long been trying to have a new address at the SCI building, with its present office in the Balmer Lawrie building having a lack of space.
Bharti inspected the third floor of the SCI building on Strand Road and discussed how the space can be used.
EC wants to take spaces on the first, second and third floors of the SCI building. However, the move needs a sanction of the Bengal govt.
The EC has also been eyeing a space on the Telephone Bhavan as an alternative.
