  • Kolkata: On Nov 14, Children's Day, South Point celebrates its pupils, wishing them a bright future. Traditionally, chocolates are distributed, but this year, the school made a health-conscious change.

In response to warnings from medical experts and the CBSE about early health issues due to poor diet and sedentary lifestyles, the school distributed nutritious bars instead of sugar-rich treats.

This aligns with the belief that "Health is Wealth" and addresses concerns over junk food's negative impact on children.

The CBSE discourages high-fat, sugar, and salt foods in schools, and South Point has already stopped selling aerated drinks, keeping in mind the early onset of ailments among the young due to poor diet and sedentary life style.

By offering nutrient-rich bars on Children's Day, the school aimed to promote mindful eating among students.

This initiative, though small, is a step in the right direction, and the school hopes the community will appreciate its purpose.

Thus, a tasty bar of goodness instead of the usual sugar rich indulgence have been more enjoyable but a less guilty treat.

Soon healthy snacks, instead of packaged salty chips, will be available in the school canteen.
