Kolkata: A 23-year-old woman from Karaya was allegedly attacked by her former boyfriend, a 35-year-old resident of Park Street, with a chopper at Kalighat on Nov 18 when she refused to rekindle their relationship.
They had broken up when she discovered the accused was married. Kalighat cops registered a zero FIR and forwarded the investigation to Karaya cops.
According to the complaint, the accused allegedly continued to harass the woman after the break-up, despite her requests for privacy.
On Nov 18, he allegedly forced his way into her home, threatening her. She left, but he followed her to a cafe near Bhowanipore, where he allegedly attempted to pressure her by contacting her friends. In a bid to manage the situation, the woman informed the accused's wife, which alarmed him.
The situation escalated when he allegedly brandished a chopper to intimidate the woman. She managed to record a video of the incident.
When she threatened to report him to cops, he allegedly assaulted her, damaged her phone, and fled the scene.
