Kolkata: An altercation broke out between app-based cab drivers and cops outside St. Xavier's College on Park Street on Wednesday when a traffic sergeant tried to prevent illegal parking.
Around 11.30am, the traffic sergeant from the East Traffic Guard attempted to issue a ticket to a cab driver for parking illegally in front of the college. This led to a heated argument between the officer and the errant driver. The driver had also failed to produce documents for his vehicle. When the officer said the driver's cab would be seized, the latter protested. Other app-based cab drivers in the vicinity joined in. Both the police and the cab drivers accused each other of using force, leading to a chaotic scene.
The police have lodged a complaint at the Park Street Police Station. According to the complaint, the driver, along with another individual, engaged in the heated argument Probe is on.
