The railway station in the industrial town of Haldia is all set for a major revamp by the South Eastern Railway under the Indian Railway’s Amrit Bharat Station scheme for upgrading the stations.
Haldia station in East Midnapur district is a terminal station on the Panskura-Haldia branch line of South Eastern Railway. Haldia is also a major industrial hub and port city. The station serves passenger and freight transportation. It is presently undergoing a massive transformation under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
The revamp project of the station includes renovation of the station building, new parking area, new circulating area, booking counter, renovation of the waiting room and toilet, improved platform shelter and platform surface, new entry/exit gate, baby feeding room, reserved lounge and so on.
According to the South Eastern Railway, the redevelopment of Haldia station of Kharagpur Division will provide improved passenger amenities. It will also be beneficial for economic growth and regional development. The following passenger amenities will be added to Haldia station during the redevelopment work.
A total of 72 stations of South Eastern Railway are being developed under this scheme. Detailed plans are made for each station and the work is done in phases, based on what each station needs. The goal is to make stations cleaner, more comfortable, and easier to use.
