Kolkata: A 52-year-old state transport employee sustained injuries after being shot at by bike-borne miscreants in an upscale neighbourhood in Baranagar on Friday. Victim Bikash Majumdar was hospitalised and discharged after treatment.
"I was returning after disposing of garbage around 6.20 am when two men on a bike passed by me. Moments later, they fired at me. I bent my head immediately, which is why the bullet didn't hit me. But the gunpowder was sprayed on my body, causing injuries," Majumdar said.
He added that he has no idea who might want to kill him, insisting he has no enmity with anyone.
Local councillor Shantanu Majumdar said, "This is a peaceful area. Such an incident has never happened here before."
No one has been arrested yet but cops are looking for the culprits. — Sanjib Chakraborty.
