JU EC nod to Harmanpreet DLitt, spl convocation likely

Kolkata: The Jadavpur University executive council (EC) has approved the name of Harmanpreet Kaur, captain of the women's cricket team that won the World Cup, for DLitt (Honoris Causa) on Friday. If Kaur is available on Dec 24, JU will hold a special convocation to confer DLitt on her; otherwise, the authorities will proceed with the annual convocation.
VC Chiranjib Bhattacharjee said, "We have decided to confer DLitt (Honoris Causa) on Harmanpreet Kaur."
EC also approved a list of likely chief guest and special guest that includes Nobel laureate Abhijit Vinayak Banerjee, former ISRO chairman S Somanath, DRDO chairman Samir V Kamat, IIT Kharagpur director Suman Chakraborty, and CEO of Anusandhan National Research Foundation Shivkumar Kalyanaraman. tnn
