One of the most renowned festivals of Bidhannagar and the city, Bidhannagar Fair 2025, will be held at Bidhannagar Book Fair Grounds from 1-21 December. The fair will be inaugurated by Kolkata mayor and urban development minister Firhad Hakim, informed Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation (BMC) mayor Krishna Chakraborty today.
The BMC mayor said the dates for the fair have been brought forward as the fair will be followed by the International Kolkata Book Fair at the same venue.
Total number of single stalls will be 335; the number of pavilions, kiosks, and sheds are respectively 15, 60, 88, and 2. Including the entertainment zones, the total number of stalls will be 500. As in other years, this year too, the fair will host an impressive array of stalls from various countries including Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkey, and Egypt. Krishna Chakraborty hoped Bangladesh too would put up stalls, like previous years.
The BMC mayor said that among the total six tenders received through the tender process, this one has been chosen to hold the fair. According to all required financial regulations, the organization submitted the highest bid of Rs 1,91,00,500, and it has been accepted.
Additionally, for the smooth management of the fair, responsibilities have been distributed among all councillors through the formation of various functional committees and sub-committees.
Through the funds collected from this fair, the construction work of the Municipal Corporation’s dream project “Rabindra Bhavan” has begun. The total estimated cost of the project is approximately Rs. 41.90 crore. The foundation of this project has already been laid, with a financial value of Rs. 7.25 crore, and the structural work of the ground floor and first floor is underway with a financial value of Rs. 3.65 crore. She said that the urban development minister has been instrumental in arranging for the funds.
