While a well-marked low-pressure area is strengthening over the distant Strait of Malacca and the South Andaman Sea, the immediate weather outlook for West Bengal remains stable with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting mostly clear skies for the coming week.

The low-pressure area is very likely to intensify into a depression over the southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining South Andaman Sea by November 24, the IMD said, adding that the system was expected to strengthen into a cyclonic storm over the southeast Bay of Bengal within the subsequent 48 hours.

However, there is no weather warning for West Bengal for the next seven days. Residents of the state can expect generally clear weather for the next few days, though a slight drop in temperature is expected early next week.

The minimum temperature across the state is likely to drop by two degrees Celsius by November 25, potentially bringing a noticeable chill. Light fog may be observed in the mornings in some districts.

Shallow fog was observed in parts of South Bengal, specifically over North and South 24 Parganas, Kolkata, and East Midnapore districts on Saturday. The lowest minimum temperature was recorded at 14.4 degrees Celsius in Sriniketan (South Bengal) and 14 degrees Celsius in Alipurduar (North Bengal). The coldest spot was Darjeeling PTO in the hills, recording 5.6 degrees Celsius.

On November 24, Kolkata will likely see a mainly clear sky, with the maximum temperature expected to be 28 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature 18 degrees Celsius. A similar weather pattern will persist on Tuesday, after which, a slight drop in the temperature will be recorded over the next two days, before going up in a day or two.
