The New Town Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA) will introduce 950 wheeled waste bins of 240-litre capacity each at different locations in New Town. It will engage an agency to lift all kinds of waste and transport it to Dhapa. NKDA officials said the authorities jhad procured 1,000 new waste bins last week to replace the damaged ones.New Town currently generates close to 90 tonnes of waste daily, officials said. The agency will deploy loaders, trippers, and the requisite number of labourers to lift waste and transport it to Dhapa, as per direction. NKDA officials said the amount of daily generated waste would soon increase nearly three times as the neighbourhood area of New Town, which is under the NKDA and Hidco planning area, has been included under the solid waste integration plan. Waste processing and recycling plants have been planned in the action areas, another NKDA official said. tnn
