  • Sebaashray 2, an initiative to provide health care to the residents who stay in the areas under Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha seat will start from 1 December.

Taking cue from the success of Sebaashray, which was launched in the areas in January 2025, the second initiative is on its way. It is an initiative of Abhishek Banerjee, MP from Diamond Harbour and national general secretary of Trinamul Congress.

The Assembly constituencies under the Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha seat are Diamond Harbour, Bishnupur, Satgachia, Metiabruz, Budge Budge, Maheshtala and Falta.

The residents will have to register their names at the Sebaashray camps, which will be held in every constituency. The medical advice will be given free-of-cost along with medicines. If hospitalisation is required the expenditure will be borne by Mr Banerjee.

In the Sebaashray camps, which were held in January, two children were given heart surgery for free. The camps have been tagged with private and state-run hospitals.

Mr Banerjee had announced the setting up of the health camps on his birthday. The people have been greatly benefitted during the Sebaashray camps which were held in their areas.

The specialist doctors are assisted by nurses and health workers at the camps. Cleanliness is the USP of these camps. Trinamul Congress workers helped the visitors to go to the right doctors for treatment and medical advice. Free medicines were also given to them. There are eye specialists, who examine them and if spectacles are needed they are given free-of-cost. If the patients are found to be suffering from cataract, they are referred to private health care establishments where operations are done free.
