Newly-wed couple harassed, assaulted at biryani joint

Kolkata: A 23-year-old woman and her husband were allegedly harassed and assaulted by a group of men, just a few days after getting married, at a popular biryani eatery in Picnic Garden on Wednesday.
According to the cops, the couple was subjected to verbal abuse and sexual remarks by the group, who first began passing objectionable comments. When the woman's husband attempted to intervene, he was reportedly beaten and threatened with sticks. The situation escalated as the men allegedly molested the woman, leaving the couple traumatised.
Tiljala Police have launched an investigation and two individuals have been detained. Police are actively searching for additional suspects involved in the attack. Cops have also collected CCTV footage from the area. "We will be recording the statements of the employees at the eatery," said an investigating officer.
