Kolkata: Calcutta HC on Friday gave the state seven more days to file a report on the steps taken for fencing work along the India-Bangladesh border. The division bench of Acting Chief Justice Sujoy Paul and Justice Partha Sarathi Sen last heard the PIL on Nov 13, and the state was directed to file a report in 15 days. The state's counsel on Friday sought more time to come up with a reply.
The PIL was filed by Lt General Subrata Saha, a former deputy chief of Army staff and the current executive chairman of Manekshaw Centre for National Security Studies and Research, who pointed to the "grave threat" posed by unfenced stretches of the border.
