• HC: Publish tainted list under 3 categories

  • Kolkata: Calcutta High Court on Monday directed the West Bengal Central School Service Commission (WBCSSC) to publish the list of "tainted" candidates in light of the Supreme Court order on Nov 26, 2025, in which the apex court ordered that no "tainted" candidate from the 2016 panel that was annulled should slip into the ongoing 2nd SLST, 2025 recruitment process.

Justice Amrita Sinha, as an interim measure, directed the WBCSSC to publish the list of tainted candidates along with their names, their father's name, and details of the appointment they got in state-run schools before the Supreme Court struck out the entire list. The WBCSSC has to publish the tainted candidates under three categories — rank jump cases, cases where OMR mismatch was found, and out-of-panel appointments.

Justice Sinha, on Nov 27, directed the WBCSSC to publish the list of "tainted" candidates who were appointed after the expiry of the 2016 selection list. The matter came before the high court during the hearing on Monday, after counsel for petitioners Firdous Samim pointed out to the court that the list of "tainted" candidates submitted by the WBCSSC to the court was "incomplete" because the number of tainted candidates published by the WBCSSC earlier was far more than the list submitted to the court.

Justice Sinha also directed the commission to place before the court, before Dec 6, the list of candidates in the 2016 list appointed after the expiry of the panel.
