  • Coming down heavily on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement that the Opposition is doing drama in the Parliament, Trinamul Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee said if raising the voice of the people is a drama then they will give a befitting reply in the next election.

Reacting sharply while talking to the media after inauguration of the Sebaashray camp in Maheshtala this morning, he said the Opposition is asking just a debate on SIR. “If raising people’s voice is drama then the people will give them a reply in the next election,” he said.

Mr Banerjee said the Centre has blocked the dues of the state government worth Rs 2 lakh crore. Despite repeated reminders the Centre has not cleared the dues.

“40 people, including BLOs, have died. They have blamed ECI. Where is accountability from the government? People stood in queues 10 years back during demonetisation. The black money flow has increased. Where is the accountability? Blasts are happening and terrorists are entering our country, where is accountability?” asked the Diamond Harbour MP.

The Opposition is working within the legal framework to ask questions. Just because they have won a few states doesn’t mean that they are not answerable to people. Same people will remove you from power, said Abhishek. “We are raising questions on Pahalgam, 40 people died due to SIR and BJP and they think this is a drama? We are not against SIR but we are against the method and way it is being executed,” added Abhishek.

The Election Commission of India didn’t train the BLOs, they didn’t remove the glitch, voter roll is not updated and when we want discussion PM is saying this is drama! said Abhshek.
