BSF eastern command celebrates forces’ raising day

The Border Security Force (BSF) is celebrating its 61st Raising Day today, marking six decades of exceptional service in securing India’s borders and maintaining National Security. Raised in 1965 in the aftermath of the Indo-Pakistan War, the BSF has been entrusted with the responsibility to guard India’s borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh.
The Eastern Command BSF, raised in the year 2008, has been kept supervising the security of the International Border with Bangladesh. Besides, BSF is also committed for maintaining law & order duties in Manipur and performing CI – Ops duties in Nagaland.
On this occasion, Rakesh Ranjan Lal, Inspector General, (HR & Logistics), Eastern Command, extended his heartfelt greetings to all ranks and families and exhorted them to be upright and committed in discharging duties. He underlined that Eastern Command remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguard the Indo-Bangladesh border. During the Raising Day celebrations, Dr Ashish Kumar, IG (Medical) , Rajesh Kumar IG (Ops), Senior Officers, Subordinate Officers (SOs) & other ranks (ORs) were present.
In the last one year, BSF has made significant strides in combating trans-border crimes on Indo-Bangladesh border, with an impressive seizure of Narcotics worth Rs 376.52 crore, contraband goods worth Rs 170.57 crore and 51.389 kg gold worth Rs 67.42 crore. The huge seizure manifested the BSF’s commitment in curbing smuggling and organized crimes along the Indo-Bangladesh border. Besides, BSF have also apprehended 10,263 Bangladeshi nationals on the Indo-Bangladesh border.
