  • Kolkata: Cybercrimes are not always about monetary losses. They can be deeply personal and harmful, affecting social reputation. This is what the cyber cell is emphasising in its new interactions, not just in schools but also in housing complexes, which are being visited in the run-up to the Christmas season.

On Tuesday, the detective department cyber cell released a 40-second video stating the dos and don'ts to remain safe from cyberstalking. "Keep your profile locked from outsiders. Set it to ‘private' or ‘only friends'. Be careful while accepting friend requests or messenger requests from strangers and do not share your personal details with them," cops also warned.

The Cyber Police Station, in an effort to "empower the next generation", is also conducting special cyber awareness programmes at girls' schools, educating students about online safety and digital citizenship.
