  • Kolkata: A day after the EC sought a report from the district election officers (DEOs), who are also DMs, after identifying 2,208 polling stations with ‘Zero Uncollectable' form, the number of such booths dropped to 480 on Tuesday.

    According to sources, the reports from the concerned DEOs were received on Tuesday. "The number has gone down significantly by 1,728. The EC will scrutinize the reports and take further action," sources added.

    The highest numbers of polling stations were in South 24 Parganas, 159. Among these 159 polling stations, 66 are in Raidighi, 58, 15 and 20 are in Kulpi, Magrahat and Patharpratima, respectively.

    Among 2,208 polling stations with ‘Zero Uncollectable' form, South 24 Parganas has the most number of booths — 760. It's followed by Purulia, Murshidabad, Malda, Nadia and Bankura with 228, 226, 216, 130 and 101 booths.
