• Sealdah division to start commercial services of two new AC local trains

  • In what comes as a major relief to the commuters availing Sealdah-Kalyani route, the Sealdah Division of the Eastern Railway is to commence the commercial services of the two new air-conditioned local trains between Sealdah and Kalyani and Sealdah – Krishnanagar from this week.

    According to the office of Sealdah Division, the new AC local train between Sealdah-Kalyani is to begin from 4 December while the extended Sealdah-Krishnanagar Sunday service is to start from 7 December. The Sealdah-Kalyani AC train, 31347/31344 is to be run six days in a week from Monday to Saturday. The train would depart from Sealdah at 3.35 p.m. and arrive at Kalyani at 4.52 p.m. On the other way round, the train would leave Kalyani at 5.02 p.m. and arrive at Sealdah at 6.20 p.m.

    The services of the other AC train between Sealdah-Krishnanagar, numbered as 31847, previously operational on certain days, would now run for one extra day in a week, at a different time specifically on Sunday. The train would depart from Sealdah at 11.55 a.m. and arrive at Krishnanagar at 2.11 p.m. From Krishnanagar, the train will leave at 4.05 p.m. and reach Sealdah at 6.20 p.m. on Sundays.

    This extension, commencing 7 December is specifically aimed at benefiting the large number of visitors and devotees who plan their travel during the weekend, according to the divisional railway officials.

    In addition to the new AC local, an extended non-AC train service originating from BBD Bag will also be operated till Kalyani, further enhancing connectivity to the educational hub of Nadia district.
