  • The next four months will see major traffic diversion in the Picnic Garden area of Kolkata as the police have initiated a 120-day closure and diversion plan to allow for essential sewer line work.

    The four-phase diversion strategy will primarily affect Picnic Garden Road between Laliat tea shop and Kustia More.

    The restrictions will come into force immediately.

    Buses, goods vehicles, autos and others moving towards the Yuba Sangha Club will be diverted left onto Picnic Garden Road, then right onto Bondel Gate Flyover, and then right towards Dr G S Bose Road before taking a left turn back onto Bondel Gate Flyover and then a right turn onto P G Road and finally a right turn towards the club.

    Autos and other vehicles travelling towards Kustia More will move left along Sree Dhar Roy Road, then Kustia Road, then left towards East C R Avenue E M Bypass, right onto Dr GS Bose Road, and then take a left turn back onto Bondel Gate Flyover and Tiljala Road.

    Vehicles heading towards Battala More will move left along Sree Dhar Roy Road, then Kustia Road, then right towards West Bondel Gate Flyover, right onto Kustia Road, then left towards East C R Avenue-EM Bypass, and then right onto Dr G S Bose Road before taking a left turn back onto Bondel Gate Flyover and Tiljala Road.

    Vehicles moving towards Kustia More will move left along Sree Dhar Roy Road, then Kustia Road, then right onto West Bondel Gate Flyover, and then right onto Dr GS Bose Road before taking a left turn back onto Bondel Gate Flyover and Tiljala Road.

    “Commuters are advised to take note of these significant changes and plan their travel accordingly to avoid congestion and inconvenience,” advised Kolkata traffic Police.
