Kolkata: A large area of Salt Lake will experience reduced water supply for the next few days due to ongoing maintenance work and reconstruction of the overhead reservoirs' dome slab. Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has been conducting this work in phases since early this year.
For the work on Tank 7, which will include shuttering removal, inside plastering, inside cleaning, and food-grade paint work, six blocks — AH, BH, AG, BG, CG, and SA — will experience reduced water pressure from Friday until Dec 19.
During this period, the distribution of drinking water will be through direct online boosting instead of the overhead tank.
Similarly, Tank 3 will undergo maintenance work from Saturday until Monday, and seven blocks — CD, DD, CC, BC, and parts of AC, AD, and BD — will experience reduced water supply for these three days.
All 15 overhead water tanks in Salt Lake are undergoing major upgrade and revamp work for the first time since the inception of the township.
BMC is planning to inaugurate two of the newly upgraded water reservoirs, tanks 5 and 10, very soon.
