CCTV cams will be set up in 45 days, JU informs HC

Kolkata: Jadavpur University on Thursday submitted a security report before the Calcutta High Court, stating that the authorities received Rs 68 lakh from the higher education department and will complete CCTV installation within 45 days.
A progress report was directed to be filed by the division bench of Acting Chief Justice Sujoy Paul and Justice Partha Sarathi Sen by Jan 21.
A PIL had been filed before the court seeking security on the university campus after multiple law-and-order situations. It was submitted that a joint meeting was held according to the court's directive, and a company has been tasked with installing 70 CCTV cameras on the campus. Additionally, 32 security guards have been deployed from the State Sainik Board.
JU VC Chiranjib Bhattacharjee said, "An order for 70 CCTV cameras has been given to Webel Technology Limited. The installation will be done tentatively within 45 days."
