Kolkata: The new chairperson of the College Service Commission, Souren Bandyopadhyay, was appointed by the higher education department on Thursday, replacing Dipak Kumar Kar. The controller, Selim Box Mandal, who joined a few months ago, was replaced by Subhranil Some, the principal of Bhairab Ganguly College.
The notice was issued by the higher education department stating that the new chairperson was appointed since Kar was appointed as the VC of Vidyasagar University. However, sources said the move came after complaints of irregularities in the interview process were submitted to the department and the CM.
Kar did not answer TOI's calls or reply to texts.
Banerjee said, "I will try to deliver my best effort for the betterment of the commission."
Mandal, who took the charge as JU registrar, welcomed this decision, saying, "It would have been difficult for me to perform well in both administrative positions."
