• Bengal BJP to hold 1,300 rallies state-wide today, 13,000 over a month

  • Kolkata: A day after PM Narendra Modi exhorted Bengal BJP netas to remain focused and confident about the 2026 assembly polls, the latter drew the battle lines and announced holding 13,000 rallies over a month starting Friday. The saffron party's state functionaries also urged Modi to be present at one rally in Dec.

BJP netas said they have planned 1,300 small and medium rallies across the state on Friday. BJP is dividing the state into clusters, comprising five to six booths, and rallies have been planned in each cluster over the next month. State netas have told the party brass that 13,000 rallies will be held by Jan 15 — before the new national president is elected.

"There is a palpable enthusiasm among people around BJP this time and we need to address that. It will be a ‘Pahar Se Sagar Yatra' (from the mountains to the sea). People are asking BJP workers and netas to take the fight to the streets and address failures of the state govt," BJP state president Samik Bhattacharya said.

According to sources, Modi is scheduled to address at least seven rallies in Bengal, starting with his first in Dec in the run-up to the 2026 polls. Bengal BJP functionaries have requested the PM to hold the first meeting in Ranaghat. Defence minister Rajnath Singh is also likely to address rallies in the state. Bengal BJP netas said they were also in talks with Union home minister Amit Shah's office.

BJP's former state president Rahul Sinha said the party has planned to hold 13,000 big and small meetings at Shakti Kendras. The campaign will be tailored to address specific regional concerns, with ground-level feedback playing a crucial role in shaping the party's narrative. The rallies will also intensify engagement with veteran and new workers.

"People want to connect with BJP, and this is the opportune moment for that. We will make a concerted effort to reconnect with core workers," Bhattacharya said.

"The campaign will start on Dec 5 with 1,300 meetings at Shakti Kendras. Each of these meetings will be held between 5pm and 7pm, and local netas will address the gatherings. Assembly-wise large public meetings will be held after that," Sinha said.
