  • Kolkata: In a bid to strengthen the bond between alumni and their alma mater, vice-chancellor of the West Bengal University of Juridical Sciences, Nandimath Omprakash V, said the alumni must be "integrated into the system through various programmes as they are critical stakeholders of the university".

The alumni of the batch of 2005, which is also the law school's first batch, organised a reunion at the university to celebrate 20 years of their passing out on Nov 30. During his interaction with the alumni, Nandimath shared that former students need to invest their TIME, where T stands for time, I for involvement, M stands for money as a resource, and E stands for engagement. "Our alumni, through their success, brought recognition to the institute. They are our brand ambassadors and have helped us to build an image. We feel the current students should also get an opportunity to learn from their journey," the VC said.

Dean of alumni affairs, outreach, and communication, Shameek Sen, said, "The VC shared his vision with the alumni, clearly emphasising the role that the alumni can play in the development of curriculum and pedagogy by infusing their practical knowledge into the theoretical curriculum."

Students of the 2005 batch were happy and overwhelmed and felt a "part of the institution" after a long time. A partner with J Sagar Associates, Prasanth VG, also a 2005 batch alumnus, feels, "I think NUJS is now on the path of a rebirth after difficult times."
