TMC area president killed in Birbhum, no arrests yet

Rashbihari Sardar (50), alias Dodon, Thupsura anchal president of the Trinamul Congress, was killed and five others were injured after two rival groups clashed at Nanoor in Birbhum district today.
He was attending a meeting with villagers at the local Natmandir in Patichara village under Thupsura Anchal when a group of assailants attacked him with rods and sharp weapons. He collapsed on the ground, and when other villagers tried to save him, they were also beaten.
Five injured persons were taken to a nearby hospital, while the body was sent for post-mortem by Nanoor police station. All five injured were later shifted to Mongalkote Block Hospital in neighbouring East Burdwan district for better treatment.
A large police contingent has been deployed in the village as the situation remains tense. No arrests have been made so far, and the accused are absconding.
Nanoor police have received the FIR and initiated a murder case. Despite repeated warnings from TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee to rival groups in Birbhum to stop feuding and work together, the infighting appears far from over.
