‘Another’ Kabir’s phone keeps ringing to reach Bharatpur MLA

Debra: Trinamool Debra MLA Humayun Kabir has found himself at the centre of a confusion over identity, with 200 calls coming in from across India and even Dubai in mere 48 hours. The callers actually tried to contact Kabir's namesake, Bharatpur MLA Humayun Kabir, to offer financial assistance for the latter's ‘Babri Masjid' construction project.
Since the laying of the mosque's foundation stone, the Debra MLA has received about 200 calls from Bihar, Jharkhand, UP, Maharashtra, Haryana, Rajasthan and Dubai. Each caller has requested a QR code or UPI number for the transfer of money.
Despite his efforts to clarify the mix-up, the former IPS officer's attempts to redirect the callers to the Bharatpur MLA have been largely unsuccessful. "I answer all calls, even if they are from unknown numbers. But in two days, I have received about 200 calls meant for the other Humayun," Debra MLA Kabir explained. "I have told them to find the correct number and contact that Humayun."
