• Excellence award to honour Tolly technicians

  • Kolkata: The Federation of Cine Technicians & Workers of Eastern India (FCTWEI) has launched the Federation Excellence Award to recognise the contributions of technicians in the film and OTT industry. The awards will be presented at Technicians' Studio on Dec 14 in 26 categories each in the domain of TV/OTT and cinema. "This is a fantastic effort spearheaded by FCTWEI president Swarup Biswas and shows how much he respects technicians," said director Rahool Mukherjee of Eastern India Motion Pictures Directors' Association.

    The 26 awardees will be chosen from these guilds: Eastern India Motion Pictures Directors Association, Cine and Video Assistant Director Guild of Eastern India, Eastern India Cinematographer Association, Film Editor Association of Eastern India, Cine Writers Association of West Bengal, Calcutta Cine Musician Association, Cine Production Manager Association, Cine Art Directors Guild, Eastern India Cine Still Photographers Association, Cine Makeup Artists Association (Kolkata), West Bengal Cine and Video Junior and Co Artist Union, Cine Dancer Association of West Bengal, Eastern Indian Cine Electrician Guild, West Bengal Film and Video Setting Workers Guild, West Bengal Film and Video Freelance Setting Workers Guild, Cine Carpenter Model Painter Setting Workers Union of West Bengal, Cine Audio Workers and Camera Caretakers Association, Film Production Assistant Guild, Movie Stuntman Association of Eastern Zone, Kolkata Cine and TV Freelance Driver Union, Cine and Video Costume Men Association of West Bengal, Cine and Video Hair Stylist Association (Kolkata), Cine and Video Catwalk and Hanging Light Workers of West Bengal, Odisha Motion Picture Technician and Workers Association, Cine Bangla Camera Attendant Workers Union, Cine and Video Lightman Association, and Cine and Video Generator Van Rostrum Grips Attendants Association.

    Biswas posted on social media, "Technicians apply their creative and technical skills diligently, yet they remain largely unrecognised in the industry. The federation is committed to highlighting their contributions and providing them with the recognition they deserve. This award is a token of our appreciation and respect for their work."
