Mess fallout: MLA Raj goes to cops against wife’s trolls

Kolkata: Director and TMC MLA Raj Chakraborty filed an FIR in response to "misogynist" trolling directed at his wife, actress Subhashree Ganguly, amid the Messi controversy. Chakraborty emphasised that the issue stemmed from misinformation and a targeted attack on her identity as a woman and mother.
Chakraborty explained, "The event's PR team invited her as a representative of Tollywood to attend a meet and greet session at a city hotel. She was informed it would be a 30-minute session." Ganguly reached the hotel at 8.45 am. "The photo was taken between 10 am and 10.15 am. Director Kaushik Ganguly, too, was invited as a representative of Tollywood. Contrary to public belief, Subhashree was not obstructing anyone's view of Messi at the stadium. She and Saurav Ganguly were seated in a tent inside the stadium, awaiting the CM's arrival.
He further clarified that Ganguly did not intend to upset fans by posting a selfie with Messi. "Subhashree is being trolled because she is a soft target. The circulated photos were taken at the hotel. Her team posted it at 11 am from the hotel. However, due to jammers at the venue, the upload was delayed. The timing was unfortunate when the post eventually went live. She recognised the issue, but I advised her against deleting the post. Those behind this mismanagement and slurring of Kolkata's image need to be booked. Why is she being targeted when she didn't plan anything?"
