  • Kolkata: The bodies of two elderly sisters, aged between 55 and 60, were found on the floor of their house in Sodepur on Monday. Cops suspect the sisters, who were allegedly facing an acute financial crisis, may have died due to severe malnutrition after starving for days.

Sabita Chatterjee and Kanika Dutta lived at Chatterjee's house, surviving on occasional help from their brothers. "We offered but they refused assistance," a neighbour said.

On Monday, a neighbour, on receiving no response to knocks, entered to find them unconscious. They were declared brought dead at hospital. Cops have registered two cases of unnatural death. tnn
