• 65L jewellery, 50k cash stolen from flat after woman loses keys in app cab

  • Kolkata: A theft of jewellery worth Rs 65 lakh was reported from a flat in Ekbalpore, raising possibility of a link with the loss of the victim's house keys in an app cab a few days ago.

Nazra Begum had kept the gold ornaments at home for her relative's wedding, slated for later in Dec. On Dec 20, Nazra found the flat locks tampered with and the jewellery, along with Rs 50,000 cash, stolen.

With a wedding in the family, Nazra had kept the gold ornaments in a pink suitcase at the flat for over a year.

On Dec 5, Nazra had accidentally left her house keys in an app cab. Despite filing an online complaint with the app cab aggregator, the keys were not recovered. She had been using a duplicate set since then. This has led to suspicions that the theft might be linked to the lost keys, although no direct evidence has been found.
