• State allocates over 200 acres for industrial projects

  • Kolkata: The state cabinet on Wednesday allocated over 200 acres of land in various industrial parks to accommodate several projects. State finance minister Chandrima Bhattacharya said the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC) had allocated 0.42 acres in the Vidyasagar Industrial Park in Midnapore, 1.37 acres in the Panagarh Industrial Park, and 2.77 acres in the Haringhata Industrial Park. Additionally, 155 acres have been provided for setting up industries in Jangalsundari Karmanagari.

    Moreover, 2,026.84 sq ft has been allocated in Domjur for the construction of an office for the Gems and Jewellery Park. The Technical Education Department has been given this land for the second phase of the Gems and Jewellery Park in Ankurhati, Howrah, for skill-building training.

    The minister said that, as per a proposal received during last week's Business and Industry Conclave, Nahar Industrial Enterprises Limited would invest approximately Rs 500 crore to build a warehouse. Based on that proposal, 11.35 acres of ceiling-surplus land in Singur will be handed over to the company. Amazon and Flipkart warehouses are expected to be built on this land.

    The cabinet also approved the finalisation of the merger of Mother Dairy Calcutta with Banglar Dairy, the minister added.
