Kolkata: Trinamool national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Friday attacked the BJP-led Centre by citing former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee's principle of "Raj Dharma". Banerjee claimed that the present BJP leadership had forgotten the idea of "Raj Dharma" and was instead encouraging politics driven by hatred and division.
Sharing an old video of Vajpayee that showed him sitting next to PM Narendra Modi on X, Banerjee said that the country's social atmosphere was being "deliberately poisoned". "Right-wing forces, emboldened by power, are openly attacking dalits, STs and minorities through fear, lynching, threats and hate, all under the garb of religion. When those in office are the perpetrators and reward the protectors of this violence, impunity becomes policy," Banerjee wrote on X.
He warned that remaining silent in such a situation amounts to complicity with injustice and that history will not forgive such silence. "This is not governance; this is moral collapse. These attacks are unconstitutional, illegal and tear apart the very foundation of India — our unity in diversity. Silence today is complicity. History will not forgive this," he added.
