Kolkata: A 27-year-old motorcyclist, Emmanuel Ghosh, died in a late-night crash in Haridevpur on Friday. Police said Ghosh, a resident of Purba Putiary in Regent Park area, was returning from a Christmas party when he lost control of his two-wheeler on Julpia Road near Hospital More around 12.30 am and rammed into a closed shop.
Cops said that Ghosh was riding without a helmet, and due to the severe impact of the collision, he sustained several critical injuries. Locals informed cops, who shifted Ghosh to MR Bangur Hospital, where he was declared dead.
Incidentally, helmetless riding tops list of violations that cops have come across on Dec 24 and 25. On Thursday, 152 persons were booked for riding without helmets and the day before 174 riders were prosecuted. tnn
