Sr BSF officers review security prep along India-B’desh border in N Bengal

Jalpaiguri: Senior BSF officers have reviewed the overall security and operational preparedness at India–Bangladesh border areas under the jurisdiction of the North Bengal Frontier of BSF.
According to sources, officers recently visited multiple advance posts and inspected the readiness of border outposts in Darjeeling, and the two Dinajpurs. They also held a series of meetings with senior officers posted in the region. The latter have been instructed to beef up vigil wherever and whenever needed.
While BSF officers at the North Bengal Frontier in Siliguri's Kadamtala mentioned it as a ‘routine visit', observers think that the tour was carried out because of the escalating tension between the two countries, especially following the lynching of Dipu Chandra Das. BSF has since thwarted at least a dozen infiltration efforts along the border. Many have also been arrested.
