Kolkata: Bose Institute has discovered some unused archival material on Jagadish Chandra Bose. Now, the institute has signed an agreement with Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI) to make a documentary on the scientist to share the fresh insights with the global audience.
In 1958, a documentary on Bose, was produced by Tapan Sinha and directed by Pijush Bose. The collaboration between the two institutes will see SRFTI alumni making biographical films and other audiovisual content to document the prestigious institute's pioneering research, innovations, and experiments. The incubation department of SRFTI initiated the process of the institute making films on science, innovations, and experiments. A MoU was signed by SRFTI vice chancellor Samiran Datta and Bose Institute's director Kaustuv Sanyal recently. As Asia's first modern research centre dedicated to interdisciplinary studies, the Bose Institute has a century-long tradition of research excellence. Datta informed TOI that an agreement will enable SRFTI to generate funds. "Previously, there was less pressure, and faculty members handled these films. We are now forming a panel with our alumni.
"Additionally, we are considering a Bose Institute-led workshop on AI for our faculty," Datta stated.
