Temp rises to 14°C but wind and fog keep Kolkata chilly
Times of India | 29 December 2025
Kolkata: After two days of sub-13°C chill, the minimum rose to 14°C on the year's last Sunday. It still felt cold due to a wind and a shallow fog. While the minimum temperature may drop to 13°C again on Monday, it could rise by a degree on Dec 31, the Met office said.
Kolkata recorded a maximum of 21.4°C on Sunday, four degrees below normal. RMC said the minimum could drop to 13°C on Monday, while Salt Lake and Dum Dum could record an identical temperature. "The maximum plunged more than a degree on Sunday, which led to a chilly feel. It could persist on Monday," said a weather scientist.
Shallow to moderate fog will persist across south Bengal and Kolkata over the next two-three days, the RMC said.
The New Year could see temperatures rise to 14°C-15°C. A cloud cover could push the temperature up in Kolkata and south Bengal, but until then, a chilly northwesterly and shallow fog will keep the city cool.
