Deputy EC in Kol today, to discuss ‘polling booths at hsg societies’

Kolkata: An EC team, led by deputy election commissioner Gyanesh Bharti, will hold a meeting with DEOs of Kolkata and nearby districts here on Tuesday. DEOs of Kolkata North, Kolkata South, North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, Howrah and Hooghly will attend the meet at the CEO's office, reports Kaushik Pradhan. Sources said the meeting would focus on setting up polling booths in high-rises and group housing societies. Bharti will arrive in Kolkata on Tuesday and will review the progress of the SIR exercise in Bengal.
Earlier, the EC had directed the DEOs to survey high-rise buildings, group housing societies, RWA colonies, slums and gated societies with at least 250 houses or 500 voters, see if they can be used as polling booths and send a list to the EC.
However, only the DEO of Kolkata South sent names of two housing complexes.
